Licensed Premises

The Licensing Act 2003 came into full force on November 23rd 2005. We can assist in applying for a Premises Licence, a Personal Licence or for Temporary Event permits. Our solicitors in Leicester can provide guidance on how residents and businesses can make representations to the Council about a licence application, and we can advise you about your rights. 

A Licence is required by any establishment that either:

• Sells or supplies alcohol;
• Provides entertainment in the form of music, dance, indoor sports, theatre productions or films;
• Provides hot food after 11.00pm.

Where there is an issue with a licensed premise, residents and businesses in the local area may request a review of the terms of the licence being used by the offending establishment. A request under this procedure must relate to an ongoing problem in one or more of the four licensing objectives set by the Licensing Act 2003 which are: 

• Prevention of Crime and Disorder;
• Public Nuisance;
• Protection of Children from Harm;
• Public Safety.
