info@ehlsolicitors.co.uk · 0161 429 8000

We asked solicitors and legal advisors at this branch to give their opinion on what it was like to work at the Stockport branch, below is what they had to say:

Alex Speed – Solicitor

Q: Have you always worked in Stockport?

A: No, but I have for the last fourteen years.

Q: What attracted you to work in Stockport?

A: I had offices on the outskirts, which was a convenient location for me.  The area also has a good cross section of people.

Q: What would you say that Stockport is known for?

A: Historically, it’s known for its marketplace and it’s famous for hat production; there’s even a hat museum.  There are also tours of tunnelling and air raid shelters from the Second World War.

Q: Has the area changed since you first started working in Stockport?

A: Yes, there’s a big regeneration project to bring Stockport back to its former glory.  There’s a big leisure complex and hotels being built; there’s lots happening!

Q: What is your commute to and from work like?

A: Really easy – it only takes me ten minutes.

Q: Do you like the location of the office in Stockport?

A: Yes, we’re in a very old, listed building.  In terms of location, we’re close to the main shopping areas within the city centre.

Q: What is there to do in Stockport during your lunch break?

A: There are plenty of cafes and sandwich shops.  There’s also the market twice a week and lots of big brand name shops. I try to go for a walk when I can!

Q: If you were to work at any other EHL Solicitors office, which one would you choose and why?

A: Buxton, because it’s the nearest to where I live after Stockport.

Becky Tang – Senior Conveyancer

Q: Have you always worked in Stockport?

A: No, I previously worked in Trafford before, on the outskirts of Manchester and also Manchester City Centre.

Q: What attracted you to work in Stockport?

A: There is a lot of history in Stockport, like the Heritage Trail. There are great transport links too – it’s only ten minutes by train to Manchester City Centre and only two hours direct to London. Also, it is easy to travel to/from work.

Q: What would you say that Stockport is known for?

A: The Heritage Trail which has a history dating back to the 1400s and Stockport Grammar School.

Q: Has the housing landscape changed since you first started working in Stockport?

A: As part of the regeneration of the Stockport area, the Council have a lot of new developments planned for the near future, both residential and commercial. There are currently a lot of new build residential properties in the Stockport area, so there is likely to be more people moving to the area. It’s a good area to be in – quite close to affluent areas such as Bramhall, Cheadle, Alderley Edge and Didsbury.

Q: What is your commute to and from work like?

A: It only takes about twenty minutes by bus or ten minutes by car.

Q: Do you like the location of the office in Stockport?

A: It’s in a good location, right in the middle of Stockport city centre. We’re right next to Mersey Way Shopping Centre, so clients can find us easily.

Q: If you were to work at any other EHL Solicitors office, which one would you choose and why?

A: I would probably say one of the London ones because I like the hustle and bustle of city centres.
