2013 is due to see a number of changes to employment law and the tribunal process.
The cap for unfair dismissal claims is due to rise to £74,200 with the maximum weekly pay claim increased to £450.00. Further changes include pre-termination negotiations which allow employer and employee to discuss a termination and try to come to a settlement without the fear of the conversations being admissible as evidence. A requirement to submit information to ACAS before an employment tribunal claim can progress is also due to be implemented.
Importantly changes due in the Summer of 2013 will mean for the first time issue fees of up to £250 and hearing fees of up to £950 will need to be paid by employees to have their claims heard which is a significant change as currently no fees are payable.
A number of other changes are due to come in during 2013 including changes to PAYE reporting and flexible working. It is advisable you keep up to date with changes to avoid falling foul of the legislation.
