Good day citizens from a mixed Market Harborough. We’ve been doing conveyancing, Wills and Family law this week. We’re nothing if not flexible on the wharf. Funny weather this week. I had to admire the good old British pluck of the boaters driving into horizontal rain on Thursday. It must have felt like a North Sea convoy, but Hooray it soon brightened up.
I hope you found the answers to last weeks quick questions on the firm website and apologies for missing out “in common” from the heading to question 1. There are so many myths and pitfalls in family law and I’ve proved my typing skills are one of them.
Talking of typing related errors the word out there is to beware of your social media content: 80% of family lawyers admit to getting evidence of infidelities off Facebook and similar sites. I’ve seen quite a number of documents copied from the site which leave little to the imagination and according to statistics one third of divorces in 2011 used Facebook evidence . More like red-Facebook for some I suspect. One more tip from a case last year; don’t change your status to “single” a week before you go out to Spain with your mates on a stag do. Oh yes playmates, I kid you not.
On the Edward Hands front generally my colleague Martin and several others from the firm are taking part in the cycle ride from Leicester to Skegness on the 1st June so any help sponsoring them would be much appreciated. It’s in aid of LOROS and you can go to Justgiving .com/Edward-Hands-Lewis to donate. My thoughts will be with them but as my bike is in France and I don’t want to die just yet I’ve decided my body remains firmly in Market Harborough.
This week’s poser (a question, not me):
If you’ve been separated 3 months and inherit £50,000 can your ex get any of it?
Answers on a postcard or look on the company blogs next week.
Keep safe out there and if it all gets a bit desperate we can help. It’s what we do.
