Hello again fellow citizens of Market Harborough.
It’s not just the weather that’s been changeable this week; we have new neighbours! Congratulations to Caroline and Patrick, the new owners of Union Wharf Narrow boats. They’ve been around here for a while but now they are officially “in” and look like they are enjoying the new challenge. Mind you I thought they were tunnelling into our office this afternoon but it turns out they were just rearranging some pictures. Best of luck guys and if you need any help with the French…..
I’m slightly amazed I’m not fuzzier today. I managed to book myself into two drinks dos in one evening. Thanks to Strutt and Parker in Harborough for a great start to the festivities and congrats to Ed Brassey, a recent and experienced addition to their expert property team. They are always dreadfully generous with the vino so I rather wobbled my way down our excellent high street to the Working Breakfast Mexican night on the Square. This was organised by our incomparable Chamber of Commerce chairman Pete “Andele” Whelan who is also social tsar for Working Breakfast. Are you keeping up? I know I’m rather namedropping but there are some great people in Harborough so I make no apology for a credit or two.
On the legal front I’m into Special Guardianship right now. It’s not something many people know about but in short it’s a way of becoming a legal parent to a child that falls short of full adoption but gives more authority than a simple residence order. Particularly useful, for example where for whatever reason the natural parents cannot offer a home to the child but will continue a contact relationship going forward.
Here’s a divorce lawyers dream: I’m far too late to take advantage of it but I’ve just found out that Stan Laurel was not only married 7 times but three of those to the same woman. Bless him.
Have a great week folks.
