From 1st October 2013 the cost of registering an Enduring Power of Attorney or Lasting Power of Attorney was reduced to £110 from £130. The small but welcome reduction has been made possible by the transformation programme carried out by the Office of the Public Guardian (OPG) including the introduction of new technology and more efficient processes.
For those with an income of less than £12000p.a fee remission (a 50% reduction) is available and for those in receipt of means tested benefits the fees are exempt. The OPG will require proof of income or details of benefits when the application to register is made.
At Edward Hands & Lewis we have experienced solicitors on hand to provide impartial advice about all aspects of Lasting Power of Attorney and the registration process.
