Conveyancing Timescales

Christmas is fast approaching and with many of us focusing on the release of the John Lewis Christmas advert and thinking what we are going to purchase for our loved ones, some of you may be thinking of a purchase or sale on a much larger scale, just in time for Christmas… a property.

How long does conveyancing take?

On average we allow for a standard freehold conveyancing transaction to take around 8 weeks.  If the property you are selling/purchasing  is a Leasehold property, this transaction will take on average 12 weeks, due to third party involvement and the sheer amount of paperwork related to these types of transactions.

Any property transactions that we are instructed on at the moment are now likely to complete in January, which means that your new property should be all yours in time for a new year and fresh start! We offer conveyancing in Leicester and across the U.K, we offer fixed fee conveyancing, get in touch today.

Can conveyancing take less than 8 weeks?

Not all transactions will fit within the standard timescale and at EHL we are happy to discuss your conveyancing transaction on a case by case basis, so that if we can complete your transaction sooner, we will do.  Either way, we will keep you informed every step of the way so that you can spend your time planning what to put on your Christmas list, for your new home! If you are still unsure, why not read our conveyancing guide that talks about the most common questions.
